1 x 400mg tablet 1 time a day Take on empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after eating. Alcohol may exacerbate toxicity.
Retrovir®
(zidovudine - also known as ZDV or AZT)
2 x 100mg capsules 3 times a day or 1 x 300mg tablet 2 times a day. Take with food to lessen gastrointestinal side effects

(nevirapine)
1 x 200mg tablet 2 times a day Lead in dosing for the first 14 days of therapy
Sustiva ®
(efavirenz)
3 x 200mg capsules or

To improve tolerability of nervous system side effects, bedtime dosing is recommended during the first 2-4 weeks of therapy and in patients who continue to experience these symptoms. High fat meals should be avoided.
Rescriptor ®
(delavirdine mesylate)
4 x 100mg tablets or 2 x 200 mg tablets 3 times a day Should be taken at least 1 hour apart from didanosine and from antacids.
Protease Inhibitors
 
 
ReyatazTM
(atazanavir sulfate)
2 x 200mg capsules 1 time a day or 2 x 150mg capsules 1 time a day when boosted with 100mg of Norvir® Take with food. Talk to your doctor about medications that should NOT be taken with ReyatazTM
KaletraTM
(lopinavir/ritonavir)
3 capsules every 12 hours Take with food. Should be refrigerated, but may be stored at controlled room temperature for 60 days.
Crixivan®
(indinavir)
2 x 400mg capsules every 8 hours (200mg capsules available as a supplemental dose) Take on empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Drink at least 1.5 liters of liquid daily.
Invirase®
(saquinavir mesylate)
3 x 200mg hard gelatin capsules 3 times a day Take within 2 hours after a full meal. Saquinavir taken without food may have less bioavailability.
Fortovase®
(saquinavir)
6 x 200mg soft gelatin capsules 3 times a day Take within 2 hours after a full meal. Saquinavir taken without food may have less bioavailability.
Viracept®
(nelfinavir mesylate)
5 x 250mg tablets 2 times a day Take with a meal or a light snack
Norvir®
(ritonavir)
6 x 100mg capsules 2 times a day Should be refrigerated, but may be stored at controlled room temperature for 30 days. Take with meals. Titrated lead-in dosing: start at no less than 300mg bid; increase by 100mg increments bid up to 600mg bid.
Agenerase®
(amprenavir)
8 x 150mg capsules 2 times a day Take on empty stomach or with light snack. Avoid taking with high fat foods. Patients should not take supplemental Vitamin E with Agenerase.
